I am typing this while I am trying your hot oil treatment on my shoulder length hair and your egg yolk face mask which feels great hopefully my hair gets the frizzies under control again (result of hair dyes) my partner and I had a good laugh at the image of me with my hair wrapped up and egg yolk on my face he has never seen anything like this before so it has to be great for you even if it is laugh value:) 5 min to go now.   3. I stumbled across your blog when I pinned your eye cream recipe on Pinterest! What a wonderful site you have! I am so interested to start trying all your ideas for skin care! I haven't been happy with any skin care lines I have used ever! I'm interested to know if you have a good recipe for deodorant? Thanks so much! Kristin

    1. Hi Kristin! I'm so happy you like what you've seen here! Deodorant has been the one product that has really been an issue for me. I've yet to try a recipe that I feel really works or doesn't break me out. I have a couple more to try, but have come up empty so far. I'd really be interested if you ever find one that does the trick! ;-)

    3. I've been using this one and very happy with it! My daughter also uses it after not finding anything store bought that would work for her. This one does!!!

      Kokomo Cream Deodorant

      1/4 cup baking soda
      1/4 cup arrowroot powder
      5 Tbsp coconut oil
      1 tsp shea or mango butter
      1/4 tsp beeswax beads
      10 drops neem oil
      10 drops lime essential oil
      8 drops sweet orange essential oil
      8 drops tea tree oil

      Ina double boiler (or makeshift double boiler), melt the beeswax and add the shea (or mango) butter, coconut oil, and neem oil and blend until melted and smooth. Remove from heat and stir in the baking soda and arrowroot powder quickly. Once blended, add the remaining oils and stir well. The mixture will solidify as it cools.

      Store in a glass container out of sunlight. It will keep 8-12 months.

      To apply: Spread a small, pea-sized amount of deodorant under your arm and rub in well. Reapply as needed.

  4. I just signed up to follow by e-mail. I too have a sluggish thyriod. I heard about coconut oil and have used it in the past. However, I am on the medication, Synthroid. What other good little tricks would help to reverse this?

  5. Hi Cheryl! I am no doctor, so I can only tell you about things that I have heard work. I can't vouch for the effectiveness. Of course, you know about the coconut oil. I'm sure it has to be taken regularly and in enough quantity for it to be effective. Another thing I have recently learned of and am currently trying is essential oils. Don't know if they work yet or not, but you are supposed to apply one drop of clove EO and one drop of lemongrass EO (use a carrier oil because clove tends to be hot) to your thyroid area every day. You want to make sure you are using a very good quality EO if you try this. I'm sure there are books on the subject, but I haven't had the time to research it all that deeply.

    Just visiting your blog.... haven't read too much here but enough for me to question weather you may have adrenal fatigue. Have you checked it out? Your adrenals can seriously disrupt ones hormonal system and causes thyroid issues.

    Love your recipes and am so excited to try them (eye cream esp)!

  7. Sweet! My name is Cheryl also and I have the same thing! Am on sythroid but it goes up and down even when its level I get tired etc. My iron is low too so that also doesn't help. I'll have to try out the oils! I didn't see what you said about coconut oil though for thyroid (besides the eye cream which I plan on using!! Thank you!) .

      Consuming coconut oil is supposed to help low thyroid. You can use is when sauteeing veggies or frying eggs, etc. You can use it in your baked goods in place of other fats. Another yummy way to consume it is by making my coconut oil chocolate. You can find the recipe for it in the right hand side-bar under Popular Posts. I hope you get it all worked out!

  8. Can you recommend a bar soap to use on the days I don't use the oil cleansing method. I would like an unscented one if possible with some age fighting ingredients. I have combination skin. Thanks!

  9. Hi Pam,
    I have been trying the ocm now for about a week or so now and am experiencing some breaking out. Is this normal? I am using olive oil with the castor oil. Do you think I need to change it up? Also I am using Coconut oil but it is not organic. Could that be the problem? Thanks for any advice.
